Elections Come In!

Aurora Downtown board of directors holds annual elections for vacant or expired board positions every fall.

2022 Ballots (2023-2025 term) are DUE by Friday, October 28 at 5 p.m. Only property owners in SSA One are allowed to vote without a proxy. The 2022 election is for board of directors serving a three-year term from January 2023 through December 2025.

2022 Nomination Forms are available below. Nomination forms are due back by August 26.

2022 Ballots are mailed out in September and are due back by October 28 at 5 p.m. Mail nomination forms to: Aurora Downtown, 43 W. Galena Blvd., Aurora, IL 60506.


Election Process

6.2   Appointment of Directors:  All Directors except the initial Board of Directors as set forth in the Articles of Incorporation shall be duly elected in the manner provided for in Paragraph 6.2.2 of this Article.

6.2.1 The Property Owners* shall nominate additional at-large Directors, based on the total number in 6.2.3 below, to bring the total number of voting Directors to eighteen (18) members.  Directors elected shall be for three year staggered terms.  It is intended that these Directors shall be selected so that they represent the Special Service Areas that now exist. 

6.2.2 All Directors shall have an interest in the revitalization of properties, and in the maintenance and development of businesses and enterprise, within the Development District and shall, insofar as possible, possess any one or more of the following qualifications:

6.2.2.1 Be an owner, operator or manager of a business within the Development District;

6.2.2.2 Be an Owner of property within the Development District; or 6.2.2.3 Have particular knowledge, training or experience which would aid in development.

*Property owners within SSA One are the only ones allowed to nominate board candidates.
